CertiPUR is a voluntary testing, analysis and certification program for the environment, health and safety properties of polyurethane foam used in bedding and upholstered furniture applications.
Foam Toronto foam grades conform to CertiPUR and are notably certified to be:
- Made without heavy metals such as mercury, lead, or cadmium for example
- Made without dyes that are carcinogenic or allergenic as described by US & EU legislation
- Made without Phthalate plasticisers
- Made without substances that cause cancer or may cause heritable genetic damage
- Emitting low levels of VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
We have supplied samples and successful applied for the CertiPUR certification which is valid for 3 years. Control tests are performed every year during the period of validity of the label to ensure the foam produced keeps conforming with the specifications of CertiPUR. Purchasing a mattress or furniture from a company that is CertiPUR certified ensures that the foam is not made with any harmful chemicals or substances and has minimal VOC off-gassing.
We comply with the stringent specifications of CertiPUR and will do everything possible to make sure that all our foam grades and mattress covers are clean and safe to use. Standards similar to CertiPUR with comparable quality requirements for polyurethane foam are the Oeko Tex 100 and the EU Ecolabel. Our mattress covers which are mostly imported from Europe, also carry this fabric certifications. All Foam Toronto foam grades are CertiPUR certified.
